- OFFICER REPORTS
President Report:
Jon reported on the following:
We currently have (4) Flight instructors: Art Breault, Terry Schouster, Fred Bowen-Smith and Jon Kemmerling. If anyone needs to brush up on your skills or need assistance with anything, please contact one of these members for assistance.
We currently have (4) teams mowing the field on a regular basis. Wilson Rice, Don Cranmer, Wolfgang Jagg, Shane Deppe, David Ohayon, Doug Percival and Jon Kemmerling. Dick Zisa manages the crews. Jon expressed his gratitude to the crews for volunteering their time. Also, many thanks to Wilson Rice and Don Cranmer for repairing the big mower early last year. And a special big thanks to Wolfgang Jagg for spending so much of his time maintaining the equipment and keeping it running smoothly. These members have saved the club hundreds if not thousands of dollars in operating costs.
Field improvements this past year include: (2) new fire extinguishers, LiPO battery disposal can, (7) new chairs, (3) first aid kits, sunscreen, wasp killer, insect repellant. We contracted a company to rid the field of fire ants. The AMA charter was paid for 2022. The club website was paid for 2022. And Jon mentioned that he is working the lease renewal with Martin County.
Financial report:
David Aldridge presented a club financial update:
There was $18,612.87 balance at the start of 2021. $11,323.46 was received for dues and Misc. $5,796.00 was spent for club maintenance, mower repairs, field improvements, toilet rental and web fees. Leaving a balance of $24,140.33 as of this meeting. If any member would like a hard copy of the entire report please contact Dave Aldridge or Jon Kemmerling. Wilson Rice made a motion to accept the report. Seconded by Terry Schouster and then passed by members in attendance with no dissents.
Next topic discussed was the escrow money set aside for the Treasure Coast club liability of their previous flying site, after their leaving. Jon stated the funds ($800.00) were still available, set aside and promised by the MCM should the need arise.
Safety Report:
Terry Schouster reported no incidents were reported this year and that everyone seems to be abiding by the club rules. If you need a refresher on these rules, they are posted next to the charging station and are posted on the club website.
- OLD BUSINESS
Jon mentioned that everyone should go to the FAA website and take the TRUST (The Recreational UAS Safety Test). It will increase your knowledge on safety and give you an intro into the federal airspace system.
We tried to clean out the shed by giving away a lot of the items for free (before we dispose of it). We are tired of tripping over the stuff. Many things were taken, thanks to all.
Jon said we need to start using the web page. You can post things for sale, place announcements for other club members, view the club calendar for special dates, etc. If you don’t know your username or password, send Jon a note and he will get it for you.
Jon mentioned that we are all responsible for the cleanliness of the field. If you generate trash at the field, please take it with you when you leave. Police your area before departing.
- NEW BUSINESS
Elections were held for renewal of the officer positions. The current officers agreed to serve another year and there were no challengers to any of the positions. Dick Zisa made a motion to reelect these members. Wolfgang Jagg seconded the motion and all were re-elected with no dissents.
Officers for 2022 are as follows:
Jon Kemmerling President
Mike Brody Vice President
Fred Bowen-Smith Secretary
Terry Schouster Safety Officer
Dave Aldridge Treasurer
Jon mentioned that the edit of the By Laws earlier in 2021 were approved via email vote by the members (45 total votes received, 42 Ayes, 3 Noes). The By Laws and the Club Constitution are available on the website or a hard copy can be obtained by contacting Jon.
Field cleanup day will be February 12th beginning at 0800. Railings need to be painted. A couple of tables need to be painted. Entrance signs need to be cleaned. The mower shed and the storage shed need to be cleaned out. Replace the fun noodles between the awning openings. All the area trash needs to be picked up. The bridge leading to the lake needs to be repaired and made safe again. The field and facilities are in pretty good shape. If anyone has ideas for field improvement, please send one of the officers your ideas.
A discussion was had on cutting down the trees again on the west end of the field (as was previously done). Art Breault said he would contact the company again to get an estimate and make it happen. A motion to approve the expense with a limit of $2000 was made by Charlie Modica and seconded by Brian Clark. The club members present voted to approve the motion with no dissents.
Last issue brought before the members was a discussion about pets at the field. The members present decided on allowing pets and the following will be added to the By Laws:
- Pets are permitted at the flying field:
- The pet must remain on a leash and under the direct control of the owner at all times.
- The owner is responsible for immediately removing the pets solid waste from the premises.
A motion was made by Jon Kemmerling to accept By Law addition. Seconded by Mike Brody. All members present voted for passing this motion with one dissenting vote.
